Monica Schmidt 2-1-2021-1.jpg

Monica has been involved in healthcare for 20+ years. She began her career leading clinical laboratories for Laboratory Corporation of America (Fortune 500). After years of scientific and regulatory leadership where she observed misuse, underuse and overuse of healthcare technologies, she returned to university to obtain her PhD in health economics.

Her focus since has been on reducing unwarranted care variation, identifying waste and opportunities for health systems to preserve margin. Using robust clinical, claims and social determinants of health data inform much of Monica’s work. Identification of rising risk in a managed population and pinpointing upstream opportunities to prevent chronic disease is a primary focus of her work.
